I am a freelance Shooting Assistant Producer and Presenter specialising in natural history and environmental story telling from Glasgow, Scotland.
Thanks to documentaries from Sir David Attenborough and Animal Planet, I’ve been fascinated by nature since I was a child. I started my career as an outdoor field teacher, but in 2020 decided to follow my childhood dream and enter the wild world of ‘telly’. Since then I’ve worked on TV to digital to radio, producing, shooting and presenting stories, driven by a passion to reconnect people with nature.
There’s nothing I love more than experiencing wildlife firsthand and I use every excuse that I can to get outdoors. The marine world captivated me the most, so I studied for my BSc (Hons) in Marine Biology at the University of St Andrews and travelled as much as I could. I’ve been Scuba diving for over 10 years and after learning in Scotland, have had the privilege of diving across the world in places like Malaysia, Honduras and Indonesia. I moved to a small Scottish island to start my job as outdoor field tutor for the Field Studies Council and had the best 4.5 years of my life. I spent everyday outdoors, showing children, teenagers and adults nature first hand. We snorkelled, we rock climbed, we conducted scientific fieldwork and my knowledge of nature grew and grew. Finally, I picked up a camera, and over time taught myself the skills to photograph and film the wildlife I’d come to love so much. After producing and presenting my own films with BBC The Social, and presenting for BBC Scotland series Landward and Back From the Brink, I left my outdoor job and launched into TV full time.
I’m now incredibly proud to have worked on projects that inspire postive change for nature including Springwatch, impact campaign Our Frozen Planet and environmental podcast Rare Earth. I love crafting stories about nature that audiences can emotionally connect to, whether that’s through inspiring awe, asking big questions or through calls to action for climate change and biodiversity. As a Shooting AP and Presenter, I’m happy to get stuck into any and all aspects of the filmmaking process from conception to delivery. I’ve also worked on science and fact ent projects, which have significantly grown my technical and practical skills for working on location, as well my ability to develop stories.
My goals for the future are to continue learning and growing in the natural history and environmental TV industry, both as a Shooting AP and Presenter. I’d love to work on more impact productions, but would be equally keen to work on bluechip, presenter-led or even childrens productions!
I’m always on the lookout for the next opportunity in wildlife and environmental storytelling for all manner of platforms, so if you’d like to work together please get in touch.
